Before we were married, hubby and I took a weekend trip to Denver! He isn't plant-based and while I'm not 100% vegan myself, I do enjoy eating plant-forward as often as I can. But, I don't always like my diet to dictate where we go. Oftentimes people think that plant-based eaters are only able to eat at vegan restaurants but that isn't always true! Many times, you can create your own vegan meals when dinning out, by simply requesting a few tweaks to your meal. And, lucky for us Denver offered an enormous array of plant-friendly meals all at non-vegan restaurants!
Vegan Donuts & Coffee in Denver
We stumbled upon a cute little coffee shop called Little Owl Coffee in Denver. They had a great menu of cafe drinks that could all be made vegan by swaping the milk or cream for oat or almond milk. The best part was the display of vegan donuts sitting at the counter! Even my husband loved them! Check out Little Owl Coffee Here!
Vegan Mexican in Denver
The next restaurant we visited was La Loma! This is casual Mexican restaurant with delicious cocktails and entrees! The restaurant was not vegan but they had no problem creating a delicious vegan meal for me. We ordered and shared the veggie fajitas off of the menu and a side of black beans - the guacamole, chips, and salsa, were fresh and delicious! The only downside was that they use chicken broth in their rice so I was unable to eat that! Hubby loved the rice!
Rush Bowls - Smoothies in Denver
One morning we were craving something fresh and healthy. We stumbled upon Rush Smoothie bowls. It's a cute little smoothie shop with multiple locations around Denver. They had protein packed options for dairy and non-dairy eaters. I dove into a bowl of their PB&J smoothie blend topped with granola and it was delicious and super filling!
Best Tapas in Denver
I've saved the best for last for you guys! El Five was one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to! It was on a rooftop and felt so upscale! The vibe almost reminded me of a nightclub, dark lighting with great music. But it was still intimate enough for hubby and I to connect over a delicious dinner. This restaurant had tons of vegan, gluten-free, and non-vegan options. It is tapas style, so we ordered a few plates and shared. Everything was mouth-watering and we had lots left over! Pictured are the patatas bravas, the hummus, and the vegan cauliflower paella!
Hope you all found this list helpful! Let me know if you visit any of these places and how your experience is! - Jill
